Student Ambassador

Chirag Mehrotra is an aviation safety professional currently working as a Safety and Quality Specialist, with experience across safety assurance, human factors, and operational risk management within a regional airline environment.
He is a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and began his professional engagement in aviation safety as a student member of the International Society of Air Safety Investigators (ISASI), later progressing to full membership as he gained experience in the field.

Chirag has recently taken on the role of student ambassador for ASASI, reflecting his continued involvement in promoting safety awareness within the next generation of aviation professionals.  His work spans safety reporting, audit programs, fatigue risk considerations, and safety education initiatives, with a focus on strengthening system effectiveness and promoting informed decision making. Combining academic grounding with practical operational exposure, Chirag takes a structured yet pragmatic approach to safety, supporting a shift from reactive responses toward more proactive and predictive practices, underpinned by data driven insights and continuous improvement.

A message from Chirag

My name is Chirag Mehrotra, and I’ve recently taken on the role of Student Ambassador with ASASI. I was previously a student member during my time at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and have since transitioned into a full membership as I’ve started working in the aviation safety field.
I’m currently working as a Safety and Quality Specialist within a regional airline, focusing on areas such as safety assurance, human factors, and operational risk. Having been in your position not too long ago, I understand how valuable it can be to connect with others in the field and gain practical insight into aviation safety beyond academics.
I’m planning to set up a short “get to know each other” group session over the coming week to connect, share backgrounds, and discuss interests in aviation safety. Could you please respond with your availability or a suitable time that works for you?

In the meantime, I’d also encourage you to have a look at the Rudy Kapustin Scholarship, which is a great opportunity for students interested in aviation safety. I’ve attached a poster with all the relevant information. Please note the deadline to apply for the scholarship has been extended to 30th April.
