Following careful consideration, we would like to inform you of our decision to cancel the 2026 conference and focus resources on supporting the 2027 conference in Australia. While we have been working towards a full program of strong speakers on a diverse range of fascinating topics, the current economic climate, exacerbated by global events, has impacted our ability to deliver the conference as planned. We sincerely apologize for the disruption and inconvenience this decision is going to cause those who have already made plans to attend. We value the support you have shown us in your decision to present and/or participate in the conference. However, as the current stewards of the NZSASI organization, we must take a responsible approach to protect the organisation’s long-term strength. Especially after those before us have worked hard volunteering their time to ensure New Zealand has a strong national society within the global ISASI organization.
NZSASI, along with our Australian counterpart assisting with organizing the conference, ASASI, strongly believe in sharing and learning from aviation safety lessons. To that end, we feel it is important for those speakers who have committed to sharing their safety lessons with us at the conference should still have their message heard. There are other options to accomplish that, and we would like to discuss with presenters how they would like to proceed. Our co-organizing partner ASASI intends to host the next ANZSASI Conference in Australia, tentatively Canberra, in 2027. One option for speakers is to postpone their presentation until that 2027 conference. The other alternative is for speakers to present during our monthly webinar, currently running at 1200 New Zealand Time on the second Wednesday of the month. The webinar offers presenters a 60 to 90 minutes time slot that could be useful for longer presentations that had to be truncated to meet the requirements of the conference. We want to ensure these important insights are shared and will work with you to achieve the alternative of your choice, so your safety message gets heard.
Everyone who has registered and paid their conference fee will receive a full refund. Please contact Wayne, the NZSASI secretary, at nzsasi.sec@gmail.com so he can get your details for the refund.
We plan to host another conference in New Zealand in 2028 after the economic climate improves. We are committed to advancing aviation safety in not only our part of the world, but the entire world through our parent ISASI organization.
Thank you for your support and understanding as we pivot the conference to a better suited time for everyone.
